How to make yourself a pair of Non Skid Slipper Socks
There are many types of non skid slipper socks for sale out there. They come in many different colors and varieties. I found an excellent way to have some fun and ultimately keep your feet warm. Even if you aren’t great at doing arts and crafts, you will be able to do this. It is also a great activity for kids on a cold rainy day or a slumber party. Find your own way to celebrate slipper socks.
The materials you will need:
1. A Pair of thick Socks
2. Some Cardboard for a pattern
3. Puffy fabric paint (available for $2 or $3 dollars at any craft store)
Step 1: Get your socks ready
Make sure your socks are clean. Either wash a pair of socks you already have or buy a new pair. You can choose whatever color you want. They don’t have to be white. though white athletic socks are thick and warm.
Step 2: Create a pattern
Cut your cardboard into two pieces. Make sure the pieces are bigger than your foot. Trace each foot on a separate piece of cardboard as you will be using these as a template and flat surface to paint on. Cut out each foot pattern. This doesn’t have to be super exact. You are only using them to make paint your socks easier.
Step 3: Slide each pattern in a separate sock
Insert a cardboard pattern into each sock and smooth the fabric flat. This will be the surface you will be using to paint your socks.
Step 4: Paint your socks with puffy fabric paint
Use fabric paint to create different design on the bottom of the sock. This is what is going to turn your regular socks into non skid slipper socks. Dots, Zig Zags, and wavy lines are all easy to make. Use different colored paints to make different patterns. Get creative. This is where you get to show your personality. After all these are your socks. Let them show how wild and crazy you can get or how artistic and creative you are.
Step 5: Let your socks dry
Let the paint on your socks dry. The instructions on the fabric paint will tell you how long they should dry. I would recommend 48 hours before washing them. The fabric paint is made to stay on the material and won’t wash off in the laundry.
Just think how much fun it will be walking around in non skid slipper socks that you made all by yourself. They are fun and easy to make and they will keep you warm and safe.
